I’m hand-selecting the woods from both local (Maryland) sources and exotic lumber (local in Annapolis, MD) to make a high-quality, Made-in-the-USA banjo bridge. There are versions available from a variety of woods, heights, spacing and other options for all types of banjos. If you don’t see what you want, please email us at orders (at) cockrumstudios (dot) com and I’ll see what we can do 😉
Here is a video of some of the bridges being tested at Turtle Hill Banjo company. After sending out 150+ bridges to players across the USA for testing and opinions, the most popular have been the Roasted Walnut and Roasted Maple. Discussion and reviews of my bridges can be found on Banjo Hangout and in the Gibson Prewar Banjo Facebook group and other random places.
Bridges are $35 each with $8.50 Shipping to the USA.. Shipping is free if you order more than one. Shipping is via USPS Priority Mail and a tracking number will be provided. Delivery is usually within 2 weeks but can be longer depending on stock level and what choices are made – there are MANY possibilities.
Please email orders (at) cockrumstudios (dot) com for a discount if you want more than 5.
A compensated 3rd (G) string is standard on all 5-string bridges.
Notes:
- Bridge height is from the bottom of the feet to the top of the ebony (not the bottom of the slots)
- I have many of the common configurations ready-to-ship buy may take a week for me to make others
If you any problems with the PayPal cart / checkout, please just email orders (at) cockrumstudios (dot) com with what you want and we’ll get you a PayPal invoice ASAP. We can also accept checks if you don’t use online payment methods.
Here are some images of the process. I have several other pages with work about bridge making also. Much of my wood is sourced from local sawmills. I’m using 222g hot hide glue for the ebony / persimmon cap. I’m now roasting my own maple, walnut, and osage orange in small batches.
Custom Truss Rod Covers
Right now, all of the truss rod covers are custom made – to – order. Please email orders (at) cockrumstudios (dot) com for more information and to discuss options. These are generally priced between $50 and $150 each based on materials used and complexity. I have other write-ups of the process also. Here are some examples that I have made.
